She Speaks Book Review
In honor of Black History month, I requested a book to review for African American women called,"She Speaks, Wisdom from the women of the bible to the Modern Black Women".
Author Michelle Clark Jenkins, speaks in modern language to explain the lives of 50 well know women in the bible. Each featured woman of the bible speaks about herself, then the "Why Her" section explains the bible passage her story was taken from. You'll browse through the lives of Eve, Mary, Rahab, Ruth, and even those we may not recognize like, Tirzah,Tamar, and Tabitha.
It is a beautifully illustrated book with color pictures, and the pages are a thick and smooth feeling. Great for your coffee table, night stand, or as a gift.
I loved the way this book pictured many beautiful African American women at the end of each story. The look and feel of this easy read is very classy. However, the information is very basic and if you know your bible, it may seem elementary at times. Also, the modern language may throw you a bit. I think this book may be more suitable for teens or someone who is new to reading the bible. However, the beauty of the book may out weight all of that.
